Ark Youth Ministries
Problem
Every year in America, 1.6 million children run away or are thrown away by their parents. These children do not have anyone who cares enough about them to send them to an orphanage or a home for troubled teens. Many of them sleep on the streets. There is no one to reach out to them with the love of Jesus Christ. These are the children which God has called the staff of The Ark Youth Ministries to reach.
Program
Services in the Ark Youth Center in St. Augustine include:
- Runaway Shelter for ages 13-17
- Referrals to some local agencies
- Teen pregnancy crisis center
- STD Testing
- Counseling
- Crisis Prevention Programs
- Some long term placement upon request

We have enhanced our services to include STD testing. We provide private STD counseling at our facility, followed by confidential testing, diagnosis and treatment through a licensed physician. We know that pregnancy testing, STD testing and counseling will not provide a permanent cure or permanent change in life style, but we know that Jesus Christ can and will bring permanent change.
Luke 18:16 “But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.”
Day centers
The primary goal of the Day Center is to combat the effects of drugs, alcohol and violence by reaching souls with a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Day Centers are set in high crime, low income neighborhoods and are also designed to teach the young people of the communities scriptural principles concerning the value of life, morality and Godliness, things that many of these children and teenagers are not taught in the home. Not every family that lives in the projects or in these neighborhoods are bad families, but there is a large amount of traditional religion and ritualism that never actually penetrates the heart. This is evident in the violence, drug culture and gang involvement that is dominant in many of these neighborhoods.
Services provided in the Day Center in Putnam and St. Johns Counties include:
- Day Center for ages 5 – 17
- Counseling
- Activities
- Teaching morality and the values of Life. Bad behavior is learned and the only permanent change is through Jesus Christ. II Cor. 5:17

How Many Are there?
Pregnancy brings with it many changes. All change is stressful to some degree, even if it is a welcomed change. Listed below are several statistics which show the need for Crisis Pregnancy Centers like the Ark Youth Ministries.
Each year in America…
- Over 5 ½ million women get pregnant (including teenagers)
- 1.6 million pregnancies end in self-selected abortion
- One baby is aborted for every 2.5 born alive
- Approximately one million teenagers get pregnant
- 400,000 teenagers have abortions
- Every 64 seconds a child is born to a teen mom
